“Locations Selected To Avoid Civilian Damage And Infrastructure”: Wing Commander Vyomika Singh On Operation Sindoor

New Delhi [India]: Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, addressing the media alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, announced that Operation Sindoor was launched to deliver justice to the victims and families affected by the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

In a coordinated military response carried out on Wednesday morning, the Indian Armed Forces struck multiple terror hideouts located deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Wing Commander Singh stated that a total of nine terror sites were targeted and successfully neutralized, with utmost care taken to avoid civilian casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure.

“Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed… The locations were so selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructures and loss of any civilian lives,” said Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

During the same briefing, Col Sofiya Qureshi showcased video evidence of the targeted strikes. These included visuals from Muridke, a well-known training site for terrorists like David Headley and Ajmal Kasab, who were involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Col Qureshi further revealed the names of additional sites that were hit:

  • Sarjal Camp, Sialkot
  • Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala
  • Markaz Abbas, Kotli
  • Mehmoona Joya Camp, Sialkot

These camps, known to be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), were among those destroyed during the precision strike conducted by the Indian military.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the brutality of the Pahalgam attack, saying it was intended to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The attack in Pahalgam was marked with extreme barbarity, with the victims mostly killed with head shots at close range and in front of their family… the family members were deliberately traumatised through the manner of killing, accompanied by the exhortation that they should take back the message. The attack was clearly driven by the objective of undermining normalcy returning to Kashmir,” he said.

Misri further explained that Indian intelligence agencies had tracked credible threats of further terrorist attacks, compelling a preemptive response.

“Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism… Our actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible. They focused on dismantling terrorists’ infrastructure,” Misri added.

Operation Sindoor stands as a calibrated military effort designed to neutralize terror threats while avoiding escalation, showcasing India’s resolve to protect its citizens and sovereignty.
