Wimbledon 2025: Jannik Sinner Clinches Maiden Title, Sachin Tendulkar Congratulates Champion

New Delhi [India], July 14: Italy’s Jannik Sinner secured his first-ever Wimbledon title on Sunday with a classy and composed four-set victory over Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, in a final that lived up to its billing as a modern classic.

The 23-year-old, who has now won four Grand Slam titles — two Australian Opens, one US Open, and now Wimbledon — defeated the defending champion Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in an intense showdown that showcased power, precision, and resilience from both sides.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to hail the performance, posting on X (formerly Twitter):

“A match befitting a Wimbledon Final, both Sinner and Alcaraz kept demanding the best out of each other. Congratulations, Sinner, you belong to a special club today. Well played, Alcaraz, many more finals to come your way.”

Match Highlights:

  • Alcaraz came out firing, winning the first set 6-4, showcasing his signature drop shots and aggressive court play.
  • Sinner, despite early setbacks and an elbow issue that required medical attention earlier in the tournament, fought back to win the next three sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
  • The Italian’s groundstrokes were sharp, and his mental composure proved decisive as he held off Alcaraz’s late charge.

Road to the Title:

Sinner had been dominant in the early rounds, dropping just 17 games in his first three matches. He overcame a scare in the fourth round after Grigor Dimitrov retired due to injury, then beat Ben Shelton and Novak Djokovic to reach his fifth Grand Slam final.

Sinner’s Words to Alcaraz:

In his post-match speech, Sinner lauded his rival:

“It is so difficult to play against you… but we have an amazing relationship on and off the court. Keep going, keep pushing, and you are going to hold this trophy many times.”

The 2025 Wimbledon men’s final has cemented the Sinner-Alcaraz rivalry as one of the most exciting in tennis, with many more chapters yet to be written.
