SRH Set a Modest Target
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, MI restricted SRH to 162/5 in 20 overs. The opening pair of Abhishek Sharma (40 off 28) and Travis Head (28 off 29) laid a solid foundation with a 59-run partnership, but the visitors failed to capitalise on the start.
Heinrich Klaasen tried to inject momentum with a brisk 37 off 28 balls, hitting two sixes and three boundaries, but tight bowling spells from Will Jacks (2/14) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/21) kept SRH’s scoring in check.
MI’s Chase – Calm, Calculated, and Clinical
Chasing 163, MI openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma got off to a flying start. Rohit’s short stay ended at 26 off 18 balls as he fell to Pat Cummins, who was exceptional with the ball. Rickelton looked fluent for his 31 before being dismissed by Harshal Patel.
Jacks, coming in at No. 3, stitched a handy stand with Rickelton and later with Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 15), helping MI maintain momentum. Cummins kept SRH in the hunt by picking up both SKY and Jacks, finishing with 3/26 in his 4-over spell.
Just when it looked like MI would cruise, SRH struck twice in quick succession—Hardik Pandya (21 off 9) fell just before sealing the match, and Naman Dhir was dismissed for a duck by Eshan Malinga. However, Tilak Varma (21* off 18) ensured no further hiccups, taking MI home in 18.1 overs.
