Washington, DC [US], March 29: US President Donald Trump hosted a special Iftar dinner at the White House to mark the holy month of Ramzan, reaffirming his administration’s outreach to the Muslim community.
Speaking at the gathering, Trump said,
“We are keeping our promises to the Muslim community. While I’m president, I will be there for you.”
He also highlighted his administration’s diplomatic efforts to foster peace in the Middle East, building upon the Abraham Accords.
Sharing photos from the event, the White House posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“President Trump hosts Iftar Dinner… ‘We’re keeping our promises to the Muslim community. My administration is engaged in relentless diplomacy to forge lasting peace in the Middle East, building on the historic Abraham Accords… While I’m president, I will be there for you.'”
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, a parallel event titled ‘Sadbhavana Iftar’ was hosted by the Indian Minorities Federation (IMF) at the residence of Rajya Sabha MP and IMF Convener Satnam Singh Sandhu. The event brought together ambassadors and diplomats from 19 Muslim-majority nations, including Iran, UAE, Iraq, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, and Morocco.
These diplomats praised India’s growing engagement with the Islamic world, particularly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting enhanced ties in areas of security, economy, and diplomacy with South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Religious leaders, Islamic scholars, and social reformers were also present. Attendees offered special prayers for global peace, prosperity, and communal harmony before breaking their fast.
The Iftar meal, observed during Ramzan, is a moment of reflection, togetherness, and spirituality for Muslims worldwide. It marks the end of daily fasting at sunset and is often shared in the company of family, friends, and community.
