The question “Where is Imran Khan?” has surged to the top of social and political conversations across Pakistan, as the former Prime Minister’s family alleges that they have been unable to meet him for several weeks. The rising concern has triggered intense speculation online, even as the Adiala Jail administration insists that Khan is in “good health.”
Aleema Khanum, one of Imran Khan’s three sisters, told that the family has repeatedly been denied access to him.

“For the last 6-7 months, they have caused a lot of trouble. Sometimes they allow me to meet him, sometimes one of my sisters, and sometimes no one. Many times we wait outside for hours,” she said in a telephone interview.
According to her, the family’s last proper meeting took place between August and September, facilitated only because Khan had an ongoing case inside the jail. “Our lawyers had warned that if the family and media were not allowed access and the trial wasn’t open, they would not appear before the judge. Because of the judge’s order, the meeting was allowed. We met him in court and he assured us he was fine. He also sent messages,” she added.
Imran Khan’s Legal and Political Ordeal
Imran Khan was removed from office in 2022 after a no-confidence vote, following a dramatic fallout with Pakistan’s powerful military establishment.
He has been imprisoned since August 2023 and faces dozens of cases—charges that he says are politically motivated.
In January, Khan and his wife were convicted in a corruption case, receiving sentences of 14 and 7 years respectively.
Family Suggests Fear of “Conspiracy”
When asked if they fear a conspiracy or hidden motive behind the restricted access, Aleema Khanum responded cautiously but firmly:
“How will we know until we meet? But let me tell you this—no one can even dare to touch Imran’s hair. If anyone tries, let them see whether they survive or not.”
She also questioned the delay in legal decisions: “The case ended 5–6 weeks ago. The judgment was expected on November 27, then deferred to December 28. What is going on?”
Jail Authorities Deny Rumours About His Condition
Meanwhile, Adiala Jail authorities issued a statement dismissing rumours circulating on social media about Khan’s health or possible transfer.
“Imran Khan is in completely good health,” the administration said, adding that the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been informed accordingly. “Reports about shifting Imran Khan are entirely baseless. He is in Adiala Jail and healthy.”
PTI Demands Access and Lifts Warning
Imran Khan’s party has demanded that the government immediately end what they describe as an “undeclared ban” on meetings with the former premier.
“The nation will not tolerate any uncertainty regarding Imran Khan’s status,” the PTI said in a statement. “The government is directly responsible for protecting his security, human rights, and constitutional rights.”
As political temperature rises and speculation fills the information vacuum, the question remains: Where is Imran Khan, and why can’t his family meet him?
