White House Launches New Nobel Peace Prize Bid for Trump After Brokering Israel-Hamas Hostage Deal

Following President Donald Trump’s declaration of a historic breakthrough—an agreement between Israel and Hamas to end their two-year conflict—the White House made a very public and aggressive push on Wednesday (local time) to endorse him for the long-sought Nobel Peace Prize.

The public push comes just two days before the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, which will be made on Friday, October 10.

Announced Breakthrough In a typical show of showmanship, Trump announced the deal, which was worked out with help from the US and Qatar, during a theatrical moment at the White House. This solidified his self-styled image as the “peacemaker-in-chief.”

The Announcement: Trump’s top diplomat made a spectacular entrance into a televised White House meeting to give the president a note indicating that the Gaza deal was about to happen.

Social Media Declaration: Trump utilized his Truth Social network to say, “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan.” He also said, “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”

The official White House account on X posted the short but clear statement, “The Peace President.”

The First Peace Phase’s Details

Indirect negotiations in Egypt led to the agreement on the first stage of Trump’s 20-point plan. This is the first real step toward a truce since Hamas’s onslaught two years ago led to Israel’s catastrophic retaliation.

Trump said that the accord means that “ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon.”

Israeli Withdrawal: The deal also says that Israel “will withdraw their troops to an agreed upon line” in Gaza. A senior Israeli security official told Reuters that this “yellow line” marks the edge of a first Israeli pullout under the Trump plan.

Israel, Hamas, and Qatar later verified the agreement to free the hostages. Hamas also told Trump and the other guarantor powers to make sure that Israel follows through on the truce and evacuation.

Trump’s Nobel Campaign Got Stronger

According to Bloomberg, a news source, the US president’s push to win the renowned honor has been stronger in the last few days. It is said that aides are discreetly pushing for acknowledgment of his “peace through strength” doctrine.

Trump has said several times that he earned the prize for ending “eight conflicts” around the world. However, New Delhi has strongly denied that any foreign intervention helped ease the tension between India and Pakistan, which he often brings up as an example of a conflict.

Previous Nomination: Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize during his first time in office, but he didn’t win. Experts interviewed by AFP said that even though he made a big announcement about the Middle East, he won’t be the committee’s final choice this year.

The announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize will end a week of awards in the fields of medicine, physics, chemistry, and literature.
