“We Aim To Raise All Key Issues In Parliament: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi”

New Delhi [India], December 3: Amid ongoing unrest in Bangladesh and reports of atrocities against Hindus, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday emphasized that his party plans to raise all significant domestic and international issues in Parliament.

Gogoi stated, “We want to bring up all important issues, both within and outside India, in the House. Our party has consistently voiced concerns about these matters at various points.”

He also criticized the government for not accepting the Opposition’s suggestion to hold a two-day discussion on the Constitution, stating, “If the government had accepted the Opposition’s suggestion, Parliament would have functioned from the very first day. On the first day itself, we proposed a two-day discussion on the Constitution, but for some reason, they ignored it, wasting five days of Parliament’s time. The government must clarify why they misled the House.”

The violence against minority communities in Bangladesh has escalated, particularly following the arrest of priest Chinmoy Krishna Das. Attacks on Hindus began after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s government in August, with the international community, including India’s Ministry of External Affairs, expressing concern for the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

Parliament has been disrupted since the start of the Winter Session, with opposition parties demanding discussions on the Adani issue, Sambhal violence, and the situation in Manipur. On Monday, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned until noon and then for the rest of the day. The Winter Session, which began on November 25, will continue until December 20.
