Ayan Mukerji’s action-packed spy film, War 2, has had a strong run at the box office since its release on August 14. The film, which stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani, has grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide in its first five days, according to a press note from the film’s team. This achievement comes despite a major dip in collections on its first Monday.
The film’s performance in its first weekend allowed it to surpass the lifetime worldwide collections of several other films, including Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan, and Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2.
According to the film’s team, War 2 collected ₹240 crore gross in India and ₹60.50 crore overseas, bringing its total worldwide collection to ₹300.50 crore in just five days. This performance has placed it ahead of Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5, which had a lifetime collection of ₹288.58 crore.
However, the film’s box office run has faced competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which was released on the same day and has collected over ₹404 crore worldwide in its opening weekend. While War 2 saw a massive drop in collections on its first Monday, earning only ₹8.5 crore (net) in India, it has still cemented its position as one of the top-grossing Indian films of 2025.
War 2 is the latest installment in the YRF Spy Universe, which began with Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and includes films like Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. The film, which sees Anil Kapoor in a key role and a cameo from Bobby Deol, follows Hrithik Roshan’s character as he is suspected of being a rogue agent, with Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani’s characters on his trail. The next film in the franchise will be Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-starrer Alpha.
