Guwahati (Assam) [India], March 31: Rajasthan Royals’ leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga etched his name in history after claiming a stunning four-wicket haul against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Hasaranga dismantled CSK’s batting lineup while defending a target of 183, picking up the key wickets of Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Shivam Dube, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. He finished with impressive figures of 4/35 in his four-over spell.
With this performance, Hasaranga became only the third spinner to take a four-wicket haul against CSK in IPL history. Harbhajan Singh was the first to achieve the feat with 5/18 for Mumbai Indians in 2011, followed by Brad Hogg’s 4/29 for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015.
Additionally, Hasaranga is only the second Rajasthan Royals bowler to take four or more wickets against CSK, following Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir’s 6/14 in Jaipur during IPL 2008.
While Hasaranga shined, CSK faced another setback in high-run chases. Since IPL 2021, Chennai has lost all nine matches where they were required to chase 175+ targets, despite winning the toss in seven of those encounters.
Earlier in the match, Rajasthan posted 182/9, thanks to Nitish Rana’s explosive 81 off 36 balls. In response, CSK struggled to keep up with the required rate and eventually fell short, losing by six runs.
