Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 8: Popular singer-composer Vishal Dadlani has officially announced his departure from the reality singing show Indian Idol, after serving as a judge for six consecutive seasons.
Taking to Instagram, Dadlani shared an emotional video featuring his co-judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah, along with a heartfelt message explaining his decision to step away from the show.
“Alvida, yaaro. 6 seasons mein jitna mazaa kiya, usse bhi zyada yaad aayegi,” wrote Dadlani.
He clarified that his reason for leaving was personal, saying,
“I’m literally only leaving because I want my time back. Can’t stay stuck in Mumbai for 6 months each year!”
A Heartfelt Goodbye
In his farewell note, Dadlani expressed immense gratitude to the Indian Idol team, his co-judges, host Aditya Narayan, and the production crew. He thanked individuals by name—from lighting and tech staff to still photographers—appreciating their contributions behind the scenes.
“Only LOVE to each and all of you, with an added apology to anyone I’ve left out here,” he added.
Dadlani concluded with excitement about returning to his roots:
“Time to get back to making music, playing concerts, and never putting on make-up! It’s #VishalAndSheykhar season!! Jai ho!”
A Journey Spanning a Decade
Vishal first joined Indian Idol as a judge in 2013, took a brief hiatus in 2016, and returned for a strong six-season streak starting 2018. His exit marks the end of an era for the show, during which he became a familiar and beloved face among audiences and contestants alike.
Season 6 Comes to a Close
The most recent season of Indian Idol wrapped up with 24-year-old Manasi Ghosh from Kolkata taking home the crown. She won the coveted trophy, a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh, and a brand-new car.
As Dadlani signs off from Indian Idol, fans can now look forward to his return to full-time music production, live performances, and more from the Vishal-Sheykhar duo.
