Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva launched a sharp attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of misusing official government social media accounts by changing Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (@DelhiCMO) handles to ‘Arvind Kejriwal at Work’. He demanded immediate intervention from Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) and called it a case of “digital loot”.
Delhi CMO Handles Allegedly Altered, Then Deleted
According to the BJP, the official social media accounts of the Delhi CMO were renamed to reflect Kejriwal’s name, before being deleted altogether within an hour. As of now, the Delhi CMO accounts remain inaccessible to the public.
Virendra Sachdeva posted a screenshot of the purportedly altered account, which had a description stating:
“Former Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal revolutionized Delhi’s governance with reforms in education, healthcare, electricity, and public services.”
BJP Demands Probe, FIR Against Kejriwal & Caretaker CM Atishi
Calling the alleged act a misuse of government resources, Sachdeva urged the Lieutenant Governor to order an immediate IT probe and file an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal.
“Arvind Kejriwal changed the account of Delhi CMO and made it his own. This is a direct loot of government money… We have demanded that the IT department of the Delhi government immediately file an FIR, start an investigation, and take strict action.”
Sachdeva also accused caretaker CM Atishi of directing the changes, claiming:
“After the defeat of Arvind Kejriwal’s government, the current caretaker CM Atishi ordered that the official CMO account be turned into Kejriwal’s personal handle. This is blatant misuse of government resources and must be investigated immediately.”
Power Cuts in Delhi: BJP Alleges AAP ‘Collusion’ with Power Discoms
In addition to the social media controversy, Sachdeva also blamed the AAP government for power cuts in Delhi, alleging that the caretaker CM Atishi and power DISCOMs were deliberately delaying repairs.
“There is no power cut in Delhi. The problem is that the acting Chief Minister and the power DISCOMs are deliberately wasting time in restoring supply, causing unnecessary disruptions,” he alleged.
With political tensions rising in Delhi, BJP’s demand for a probe into the Delhi CMO social media controversy and allegations of power mismanagement could further escalate tensions between the two parties. The AAP has not yet officially responded to the accusations.
