Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian To Cross 13,000 T20 Runs, Leads RCB Charge With Explosive 67 Against MI

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli added yet another historic milestone to his glittering career as he became the first Indian and only the fifth player in the world to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket.

The record was achieved during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL 2025 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Kohli’s Milestone Innings: 13,000+ T20 Runs

Kohli was in sublime form, punishing both pace and spin as he raced to a fluent 67 off 42 deliveries, laced with eight boundaries and two sixes, at a strike rate of 159.52.

In the ongoing tournament, Kohli has now scored 164 runs in four matches at an average of 54.66 and a strike rate exceeding 143, with two fifties already to his name. He currently stands sixth in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap race.

In total, Virat has featured in 403 T20 matches, amassing 13,050 runs at an average of 41.56, including 9 centuries and 99 fifties, with a highest score of *122.

RCB’s Power-Packed Innings: 221/5

After losing Phil Salt early, Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal (37 off 22) stitched a fiery 91-run stand, swinging the momentum RCB’s way. Post their dismissals, skipper Rajat Patidar (64 off 32) and Jitesh Sharma (40* off 19) ensured the run-rate never dipped, helping RCB post a massive 221/5.

MI’s Bowling Struggles Continue

Despite picking wickets, MI bowlers leaked runs:

  • Hardik Pandya: 2/45
  • Trent Boult: 2/57
  • Vignesh Puthur: 1 wicket
  • Jasprit Bumrah returned economically with 0/29 in four overs, though without any wickets.

High Stakes for RCB

With a target of 222, RCB aimed to register their third win of the season and first win at Wankhede since IPL 2015, breaking a decade-long drought at Mumbai’s home fortress.
