Washington DC [US], June 6 : Academy Award-winning actress and producer Viola Davis is all set to headline a gripping new conspiracy thriller titled Ally Clark. The film is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, marking Davis’ second collaboration with the streamer after the action-packed G20.
Directed by thriller genre veteran Phillip Noyce (Salt, Patriot Games), Ally Clark will feature Davis in the titular role of an investigator who delves into a dangerous international conspiracy after the suspicious death of a close friend. Her pursuit for justice will take her across the United States — from the corridors of Washington, D.C., to the swamps of Louisiana and the icy terrains of Alaska.
The film is penned by Jose Ruisanchez and legendary producer Irwin Winkler, who is also producing the project. Winkler’s notable credits include Rocky, Goodfellas, and The Alto Knights. The producing team includes Charlies Winkler, David Winkler, Jose Ruisanchez, Viola Davis, and her husband Julius Tennon through their JuVee Productions banner. Melanie Clark will serve as executive producer.
This comes on the heels of Davis’ performance in G20, which stars Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Clark Gregg, and Antony Starr, among others.
Davis is one of the most decorated performers of her generation. She won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Fences (2016), and received nominations for Doubt (2008), The Help (2011), and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020). She made history as the first Black woman to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Annalise Keating in How to Get Away with Murder.
In 2023, Davis joined the elite EGOT club by winning a Grammy for the audiobook of her memoir Finding Me.
