The Fast & Furious mythology may be about to welcome one of the world’s biggest sports stars. Actor and producer Vin Diesel took to Instagram to share a photo with Cristiano Ronaldo, heavily implying that the Portuguese footballer will make an appearance in the final film, slated for release in April 2027.
“Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you he is a real one,” Diesel captioned the post. “We wrote a role for him…“
While an official confirmation from Universal Studios or Ronaldo’s team is still pending, the news has ignited massive excitement among the global fanbases of both the franchise and the footballer. This crossover is expected to give the final chapter an unprecedented level of global appeal.
Diesel’s Conditions for the Finale
Diesel also provided more details about the final film, which is expected to conclude the saga that began in 2001. The star revealed he agreed to the studio’s April 2027 release timeline only under three specific conditions, all aimed at pleasing the long-time fans:
- Return to Los Angeles: Bringing the franchise back to its original setting.
- Return to Car Culture: Focusing once again on street racing and car modifications.
- Reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner: Bringing back the beloved character played by the late Paul Walker.
Brian O’Conner’s Return
The confirmation of Brian O’Conner’s return is a major announcement. Paul Walker tragically passed away during the filming of Fast & Furious 7 in 2013. The character’s final sequence was completed using a combination of CGI, VFX, and the help of Walker’s brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker.
VFX supervisor Joe Letteri previously noted that the emotional complexity of the work was crucial to honor Walker’s memory. By reuniting his character with Dominic Toretto (Diesel) one last time in the finale, the filmmakers hope to give fans the ultimate farewell.
