Vikrant Massey Says ‘Insider-Outsider Debate’ Is a Social Media Myth, Not Ground Reality in Bollywood
Actor Vikrant Massey, known for his grounded performances and steady rise in the industry, has weighed in on the long-standing ‘insider vs. outsider’ debate in Bollywood. In an interview with Screen, Vikrant dismissed the controversy as a manufactured narrative, largely driven by people outside the film industry.
“Ye sab social media ki baatein hai. Ye wahi log karte hai jo baahar baithe hai (This is all just social media talk. It’s only discussed by those outside the film industry),” said the 12th Fail actor.
No Divide Within the Industry, Says Massey
Having begun his career in television before transitioning to critically acclaimed films like A Death in the Gunj, Chhapaak, and 12th Fail, Vikrant is often held up as a success story for “outsiders.” However, he believes that the film fraternity doesn’t really operate along those lines.
“If you are part of the fraternity that we belong to, nobody sees it like that… you must listen to me, because I am the ‘so-called outsider’. Esa kuch nahi hai, ye sab social media wali baat hai (There’s no such thing, it’s all social media talk),” Vikrant added.
He stressed that those within the industry don’t differentiate based on lineage, and that talent and persistence are what truly count.
