Vikramaditya Singh Responds To Mamata Banerjee’s “Mrityu Kumbh” Comment, Talks Congress Organisation In Himachal

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), February 19: Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh responded to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent comment calling the Mahakumbh “Mrityu Kumbh” (Kumbh of Death). Singh dismissed the remark as Banerjee’s personal opinion and emphasized that Mahakumbh is a symbol of faith for millions of people worldwide. While acknowledging the unfortunate deaths that occurred during the event, Singh noted that such tragedies have also happened at railway stations and other places, stressing the need for preventive measures to avoid future stampedes.

“Mahakumbh has been a tradition for centuries and holds deep significance for people. It’s a sacred event integral to our culture, and it’s not a matter of politics,” Singh remarked.

On the topic of the BJP forming the government in Delhi, Singh pointed out that while the timing of their government formation is not a matter of debate, it is crucial that they now focus on fulfilling their promises. These include addressing pollution, cleaning the Yamuna river, and tackling the severe smog caused by stubble burning during winter.

Further, Singh addressed the organizational structure of the Congress party in Himachal Pradesh, stating that discussions have been held with central party leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi. Singh emphasized the need for restructuring the party and strengthening it. He also mentioned the appointment of Rajni Patil as the new in-charge for Himachal Pradesh Congress, adding that she is familiar with the political landscape of the state.

“I have requested Rajni Patil to complete the pending work related to party structuring promptly. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) should be constituted within the next seven to ten days,” Singh said. He further highlighted that the Congress party’s organizational strength is crucial for implementing welfare schemes and policies effectively.

Patil, Singh said, will visit Himachal Pradesh in the first week of March to address concerns, and necessary actions will follow based on the feedback received.
