Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 24: Actor Vijay Varma has officially wrapped up filming for his upcoming crime drama series Matka King. The actor marked the occasion by sharing a picture of a unique matka-shaped cake on Instagram with the caption, “Matka King Wrapped!”

Previously, while attending Lakme Fashion Week, Vijay had revealed, “I am in the process of wrapping up Matka King. It’s another one of those larger-than-life epic stories about a man who found a loophole in the system and made the most of it.”
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nagaraj Manjule—known for Sairat and Fandry—Matka King dives into the world of Matka gambling, a phenomenon that gripped India from the 1960s through the 1990s.
According to the official synopsis, the series is “a fictional tale set in 1960s Mumbai, where an enterprising cotton trader, who craves legitimacy and respect, starts a new gambling game called ‘Matka’. This game takes the city by storm, democratizing a territory previously reserved for the rich and elite.”
Matka King will stream on Prime Video and also stars Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles.
Meanwhile, Vijay Varma is also set to appear in the romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq (previously titled Ul Jalool Ishq), alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh. Directed by Hawaizaada filmmaker Vibhu Puri, the film features veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and The Family Man actor Sharib Hashmi in important roles.
