As Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna gear up for their wedding on February 26, fans have been revisiting old interviews and videos to trace their journey from co-stars to life partners. The couple, fondly called “Virosh” by admirers, worked together in films and have shared a long-standing bond before making their relationship official.
One such throwback moment comes from the success meet of Geetha Govindam in 2018, where Vijay’s parents, Govardhan Rao and Madhavi, were asked about their expectations from their future daughter-in-law.
When asked what kind of kodalu (daughter-in-law) she wished for, Madhavi said she had just one simple condition — someone who would take good care of her son. “I just want a daughter-in-law who looks after him well. She should love him unconditionally. He is in the industry, so she should understand him,” she shared at the event.
Govardhan Rao echoed similar sentiments, stating that he wanted Vijay to marry someone of his choice. He clarified that he had no expectations regarding caste or religion and would be happy as long as his son found happiness. He did, however, mention that marrying an Indian, especially a South Indian, would make him glad.
Interestingly, Vijay had once openly stated that arranged marriage was not for him. “Love marriage only, but my parents need to love the girl,” he had remarked at a public event.
Meanwhile, Rashmika, while promoting her film The Girlfriend, subtly acknowledged Vijay’s emotional support in her life. She expressed gratitude for having a partner who helped her heal from pain he didn’t cause, hinting at the depth of their relationship.
The couple had reportedly gotten engaged in an intimate ceremony in Hyderabad last October. After months of speculation, they finally confirmed their wedding on social media, thanking fans for the love and for giving their relationship the name “Virosh.”
