Hyderabad, India: Vijay Deverakonda’s “Kingdom” is a huge hit at the box office, making ₹82 crore around the world in its first weekend.
The action-drama is a good sign for the actor’s return, as it has already done better than some of his recent movies.
Hyderabad, India: The action-drama Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and starring Vijay Deverakonda, has done quite well at the global box office, making an astonishing ₹82 crore in its first four days. The movie, which came out last Thursday, has done better than some of the actor’s more recent movies, which could mean that the star is making a comeback.
The movie’s producers, Sithara Entertainments, said that Kingdom is “strong across all centers,” with a worldwide gross of nearly ₹82 crore in four days. According to the trade tracking site Sacnilk, the picture made more than ₹40.5 crore at the Indian box office. This is a big step up from Deverakonda’s last movie, The Family Star, which made ₹30.65 crore throughout its whole run. The movie did better than his 2022 release Liger (₹56.18 crore) and 2023’s Kushi (₹76 crore).
In the movie Kingdom, Suri (Deverakonda) is a police officer who goes undercover to break up a cartel in Sri Lanka while looking for his long-lost brother, played by Satyadev. Bhagyashri Borse and Venkitesh are also in the movie, which closes with a setup for a sequel.
The movie has gotten mixed reviews, but viewers, especially in Telugu-speaking areas, seem to like it. The film had a solid start and continued to do well throughout the weekend, which suggests that it might be able to beat Deverakonda’s highest-grossing picture, Geetha Govindam, which made ₹130 crore globally.
