New Delhi [India], January 29: During Coldplay’s recent concert series in India, lead singer Chris Martin had a lighthearted moment that quickly caught the attention of fans and celebrities, including actor Vijay Deverakonda.
At the band’s final performance in Ahmedabad, Martin made a playful remark about being from Telangana, which immediately resonated with the Indian audience. As he wrapped up the concert, Chris thanked his bandmates for their 29 years of camaraderie and jokingly declared that the band had become an “Indian band,” with each member hailing from a different part of the country.
Chris continued, humorously identifying each band member’s roots: bassist Guy Berryman as being from Tamil Nadu, drummer Will Champion as “100 percent Gujarati” from Ahmedabad, and then playfully adding, “Everyone knows that I am from Telangana.”
Vijay Deverakonda shared a clip of the moment on his Instagram stories in response to Chris’s joke. The actor wrote, “Chris Martin (heart emoji) welcome! Someone needs to make a Podusthunna Poddumeeda X Coldplay mashup.”
Podusthunna Poddumeeda is a popular song from the 2011 film Jai Bolo Telangana, which became an anthem for the Telangana movement. The song was composed by the late Chakri, with lyrics written and sung by poet Gummadi Vittal Rao.
On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda was last seen in The Family Star and made a cameo appearance in Kalki 2898 AD.
