Vidya Balan To Make Tamil Debut Alongside Rajinikanth In Jailer 2?

Bollywood powerhouse performer Vidya Balan, celebrated for her commanding roles in films like Kahaani and The Dirty Picture, is officially set to make her full-fledged Tamil cinema debut by joining the star-studded cast of the highly anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, opposite superstar Rajinikanth.

While Balan previously had a brief cameo in the 2019 film Nerkonda Paarvai, her role in Jailer 2 is reported to be substantial and pivotal to the plot.

Confirmed Role Details

According to an insider source, Vidya Balan will play the role of the eldest daughter of veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who is cast as the leading antagonist in the film, locking horns with Rajinikanth. This marks a notable collaboration as Rajinikanth and Mithun Chakraborty previously shared screen space in two films: the Hindi movie Bhrastachar (1989) and the Bengali film Bhagya Devta (1997).

Production Update

The film is currently under production, with shooting underway in Chennai, and is expected to move into post-production by January. Following the Chennai schedule, the team is reportedly scheduled to relocate to Goa for the remaining two months of shooting, which is set to begin in late October.

Earlier this month, on October 20, fans were treated to a special Deepavali surprise with behind-the-scenes clips from the Jailer 2 shoot surfacing on social media. The viral videos showcased thrilling action sequences, candid team interactions, and light-hearted moments on set.
