Mumbai (Maharashtra), July 15: Renowned actor, director, and television producer Dheeraj Kumar passed away at the age of 79 in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was undergoing treatment for pneumonia at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
His mortal remains will be taken to his residence on Wednesday morning for antim darshan, with the final rites scheduled at 11 AM at the Pawan Hans cremation ground in Mumbai.
Dheeraj Kumar’s illustrious career in the Indian entertainment industry spanned several decades and mediums. He began his journey in 1965 and went on to act in over 21 Punjabi films between 1970 and 1984.
In Hindi cinema, he earned recognition through notable roles in films like Swami, Heera Panna, Raaton Ka Raja, and Roti Kapada Aur Makaan.
Beyond the silver screen, Kumar made a lasting impact on Indian television. He founded the production house Creative Eye, which became known for popular mythological and spiritual serials, including the widely acclaimed Om Namah Shivay. His efforts were instrumental in bringing Indian cultural narratives to mainstream TV audiences.
Dheeraj Kumar is remembered as a pioneering figure who bridged the worlds of cinema and television with grace and depth.
