Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 22– Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has praised Anupam Kher’s directorial venture ‘Tanvi The Great’ after attending the film’s premiere in London on Thursday.
Taking to social media, Naidu shared his admiration for the film’s powerful storytelling and emotional depth.
“Attended the premiere of Tanvi The Great in London this evening. My heartfelt congratulations to the director of the film, legendary actor Anupam Kher, for presenting a compelling & thoroughly enjoyable film,” Naidu posted on X. “It is a movie about goodness & innocence, which, as its director Anupam Kher aptly put it, ‘we seem to have lost.’”
Naidu also commended debutant Shubhangi Dutt for her moving performance as the protagonist, Tanvi—a young woman with autism. He noted the film’s emotional and symbolic depth, saying:
“It is this lost innocence which Tanvi, the protagonist, brilliantly essayed by Shubhangi Dutt, symbolises & strives to regain in this pathbreaking movie. Mentored by the iconic actor & director, Anupam Kher, Dutt portrays Tanvi as a strong character of immense strength & resilience.”
Calling the film “powerful” and “entertaining,” Naidu emphasized its themes of patriotism and national pride:
“Another powerful feeling the movie evokes in the viewer is the sense of patriotism and nationalistic fervour.”
About the Film:
Tanvi The Great follows the story of Tanvi Raina, a 21-year-old autistic woman who embarks on a mission to fulfil her late father’s dream—to salute the Indian flag at Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield. Her journey is one of resilience, courage, and breaking societal barriers, especially the exclusion of neurodivergent individuals from military service.
The film stars Shubhangi Dutt in the lead, alongside Karan Tacker (making his big-screen debut), Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, and Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen.
The film’s sound design is by Academy Award-winner Resul Pookutty, and it is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with NFDC.
‘Tanvi The Great’ is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 18.
