Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 18: Actor Varun Dhawan has given fans a glimpse into the making of Border 2 with an adorable behind-the-scenes photo featuring himself and veteran actor Sunny Deol. The image, shared by Varun on social media, shows the two actors sitting on a military tanker while posing for the camera. The shooting for the highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 epic war film Border is currently underway in the rugged cantonment of Jhansi.
In the picture, Varun looks casual yet stylish in a white vest paired with a blue shirt, brown pants, black sports shoes, and sunglasses. Sunny Deol, reprising his iconic role from the original film, sports a blue shirt and green cargo pants, further adding to the military aesthetic. Varun captioned the photo with the words, “Sunny days. Hameraa saab ji. #border2 #indianarmy Jan 2026.”
Along with Varun’s post, T-Series, the official producer of Border 2, shared a team picture from the Jhansi set. The photo featured producers Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, actor Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and others involved in the film. The caption emphasized the themes of “action, legacy, and patriotism” and included an exciting announcement for fans: “January 23, 2026—gear up for a saga of valour and sacrifice!”
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is set to be a massive cinematic spectacle. The star-studded cast includes Sunny Deol reprising his iconic role, along with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. A special moment in the film’s development is the casting of Ahan Shetty, son of Suniel Shetty, who steps into his father’s shoes in the sequel.
Ahan Shetty shared his emotional connection to the Border franchise in an Instagram post, revealing how the legacy of the film had been a significant part of his life. “Border is more than a film—it’s a legacy, an emotion, and a dream come true,” Ahan wrote. Reflecting on the deep connection he feels to the franchise, he mentioned how his journey with Border began before his birth, with his mother visiting his father on the film’s set while pregnant with him. Ahan also expressed gratitude to the filmmakers, saying, “Now, being part of Border 2 is an absolute honour. JP uncle, thank you for continuing to hold my hand, I hope to make you very very proud.”
