Vancouver International Airport Temporarily Shut Down Amid Police Incident On Runway

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Richmond, British Columbia, was temporarily shut down today following a police incident involving a small aircraft on the airport’s north runway. Authorities placed a ground stop, causing several flights to be delayed or diverted, as police responded to the scene.

According to a report by CityNews Vancouver, multiple police vehicles and officers surrounded what appeared to be a Cessna aircraft. The nature of the incident remains unclear, and officials have yet to confirm what triggered the emergency response.

A video circulating online shows the intense police presence surrounding the small plane.

While no official details have been released, air traffic was noticeably affected, with passengers reporting hold-ups both on departing and arriving flights.

Vancouver Airport Authority has not yet issued a formal statement, but operations were reportedly resuming as of late afternoon, following the all-clear from authorities.
