Uttarakhand’s Mining Revenue Crosses ₹1100 Crore In FY 2024-25, Sets New Benchmark For Transparency

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), May 24: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand Mining Department has achieved a record revenue of over ₹1100 crore for the financial year 2024–25, marking a historic milestone in the state’s economic and administrative journey.

The Chief Minister announced the figures following a departmental review meeting, emphasizing that this performance is a direct rebuttal to skeptics who doubted the possibility of transparency and honesty in the mining sector.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), this unprecedented revenue generation reflects a transformation in the state’s governance—highlighting political will, administrative transparency, and decisive leadership. The mining sector, once plagued by scams, middlemen, and mafia operations, has been reshaped through e-auctions, technological innovations, and rule-based management.

“Uttarakhand has set an example of how governance and integrity can completely transform a sector that was once synonymous with corruption,” said CM Dhami.

Historically, the state’s mining revenue remained stagnant between ₹300–₹335 crore. Protection for illegal mining operations was commonplace. However, the Dhami administration, as per official sources, has dismantled the mafia networks, eradicated brokerage systems, and ensured zero tolerance for corruption. The revamped system emphasizes scientific mining, strict environmental compliance, and local community participation.

Uttarakhand’s “corruption-free mining model” is now being viewed as a national benchmark, with other states showing interest in replicating the state’s approach.

The state government has also stressed its commitment to environmental and cultural preservation, ensuring that mining activities respect natural boundaries and ecological balance, even while contributing to economic growth.

This policy overhaul has been dubbed a “policy revolution” by many observers, signaling a new era for resource-based governance in India.
