United States Vice President JD Vance, currently on a four-day official visit to India, visited Jaipur on Tuesday along with Second Lady Usha Vance and their children. The Vance family began their day with a visit to the historic Amber Fort, arriving from the Rambagh Palace, where they are staying.
At the Amber Fort, the family received a warm and colorful welcome, featuring a traditional Rajasthani dance performance and ornately decorated elephants, highlighting the region’s vibrant culture.
A day earlier, JD Vance visited the Central Cottage Industries Emporium in New Delhi with his family. Showroom General Manager Meera Somani told media, “Really enjoyed and they appreciated our showroom. They purchased pottery and papier-mache items, and teas…”
On the morning of their arrival, the Vance family also visited the Akshardham Temple in New Delhi. Their sons wore traditional kurta-pyjamas, while their daughter wore an Anarkali-style outfit with an embroidered jacket.
Temple spokesperson Radhika Shukla shared that the US Vice President spent approximately 55 minutes at the temple, admiring the architecture and offering prayers for world peace.
The Vance family landed at Palam Airport earlier in the week, where they were welcomed by Union Minister for Railways and Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw. Vice President Vance was also accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
Vance later met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Calling the meeting an “honour,” he praised PM Modi as a “great leader” and appreciated the warm hospitality extended to his family.
“It was an honor to see Prime Minister Modi this evening. He’s a great leader, and he was incredibly kind to my family,” JD Vance wrote on X in response to PM Modi’s post.
He added, “I look forward to working under President Trump’s leadership to strengthen our friendship and cooperation with the people of India!”
Following the meeting, PM Modi posted:
“Pleased to welcome US Vice President JD Vance and his family to New Delhi. We reviewed the fast-paced progress following my visit to the US and meeting with President Trump. We are committed to mutually beneficial cooperation, including in trade, technology, defence, energy and people-to-people exchanges.”
On Wednesday, the Vance family is scheduled to visit Agra. Their India visit will conclude with their departure on April 24 at 6:40 am.
