The Trump administration is preparing to provide Ukraine with intelligence support to carry out long-range missile strikes against energy infrastructure deep inside Russia, according to reports.
The Wall Street Journal noted that US President Donald Trump has approved intelligence agencies and the Pentagon to assist Kyiv in planning such strikes. In addition, Washington is weighing the supply of advanced long-range weapons to bolster Ukraine’s ability to hit deeper Russian targets, a move that could pose new risks for Moscow.
US officials have also urged NATO allies to extend similar backing, indicating a shift towards broader international coordination in support of Ukraine. The development comes amid stalled peace talks, highlighting Washington’s deepening involvement in the conflict.
Analysts say the strategy is designed to weaken Russia’s war economy by targeting its vital energy sector, but it also carries the danger of further escalation between Washington and Moscow.
