Amid ongoing unrest in Iran, with protests now reported in over 250 locations across 27 of the country’s 31 provinces, media reports have suggested that the United States may be considering intervention. The demonstrations, driven by surging inflation and the declining value of the Iranian rial, have intensified calls for change in Tehran.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the US, in coordination with Israeli officials, is reportedly evaluating options to support the protest movement. The report suggests that Israel is also monitoring whether the removal of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro—recently captured in a US military operation—could influence regime dynamics in Iran. Israeli spy agency Mossad has publicly expressed support for Iranian protestors on X, adding weight to these speculations.
US former President Donald Trump further fueled reports of possible intervention by warning Iranian authorities via Truth Social. “If Iran shots and violently kills peaceful protesters… the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, reports by The Times claim that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, has prepared a “plan B” to flee Tehran with 20 close aides and his family, potentially relocating to Moscow. This reportedly mirrors the escape of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad after his regime’s collapse in December 2024. The authenticity of the report could not be independently verified.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (US-based) reports that at least 35 people—including 29 protesters, four children, and two security personnel—have died since the protests began, with over 1,200 detained. The unrest continues to spread nationwide, highlighting the deepening political and economic crisis in Iran.
