UP Governor Inaugurates Digital Board At Transgender School, Promotes Welfare Schemes In Basti

On Tuesday, Anandiben Patel, the governor of Uttar Pradesh, went to Basti to demonstrate her support for the transgender community. She opened a new digital board at the local Kinnar Pathshala (transgender school) and talked to students and community members. The event showed that the administration is serious about including transgender people in society.

The Governor’s office gave ₹2.10 lakh to help pay for the digital board, which is an important step in making the school’s educational facilities more modern. Governor Patel took the time to listen to the worries and hopes of the people in the community during her visit. This made for a meaningful and sympathetic conversation. She also gave the kids candy, fruit, and gifts, and she gave five important people signed copies of her book, “Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hain” (I Like Challenges).

Government Programs for People Who Are Transgender
Governor Patel made it clear in her speech that both the central and state governments are working hard to help the transgender community. She talked about a few important programs that are meant to help and give people chances:

Ayushman health cards are being given out to make sure people can get medical care.

Education: People who want to go to college can get the free “Abhyuday Yojana.”

Skill Development: Vocational training centers have been set up to teach skills like sewing, beauty parlor services, and embroidery.

Housing: Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, people who qualify will be given housing.

Asim Arun, the Minister of State for Social Welfare, spoke at the occasion and thanked Ajay Kumar Pandey, the CEO of Indira Charitable Society, for his work with transgender people. Arun said that a “Garima Grih” (shelter home) would soon be built in Basti. The Governor wants to build these homes in every district. He also said that the current government is doing a great job of making sure that the transgender population is no longer left behind.

Governor Patel also went to the Siddh Mitra Furniture Factory in Basti on another leg of her tour. There, she thanked the workers for their skill and for helping with the “Make in India” project.
