UP Crosses 1 Lakh Tonne Wheat Procurement In April; CM Yogi Advocates ‘One Nation, One Election’

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone in its wheat procurement drive, crossing 1 lakh tonnes in just the first week of April, according to government officials. Over 20,400 farmers have sold their produce at 5,780 procurement centres spread across the state.

As per Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive, these centres remain open even on holidays, and farmers registered with the portal are allowed to sell up to 100 quintals of wheat without prior verification, making the process more accessible and farmer-friendly.

CM Yogi Flags Off All India Police Handball Cluster

In another major development, the Chief Minister inaugurated the All India Police Handball Cluster 2024–25 in Lucknow, calling it a celebration of fitness, teamwork, and national spirit.

“For the next four days, Uttar Pradesh will proudly host 75 teams. I thank PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for choosing our state for this event,” CM Yogi said, lauding the central government for promoting sports in the police force.

Push for ‘One Nation, One Election’

Addressing a state-level conference on electoral reforms, CM Yogi renewed his push for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ concept, saying that frequent elections create political instability, delay development, and drain national resources.

“Political stability is key to peace, security, and development. Repeated elections hurt the GDP, hinder progress, and benefit only anti-democratic forces,” he said.

CM Yogi also warned that constant polling reduces public interest in democratic participation and slows down infrastructure projects.

“When elections happen every six months, the public loses interest. The true spirit of democracy fades,” he added.
