Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 22: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inaugurated the National Seminar-2025 on ‘Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development’, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving India’s net zero emissions target by 2070.
Speaking at the event, the CM stressed that the responsibility to meet the net zero goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends beyond the government. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the world that India will achieve the target of net zero by 2070. But the task of achieving this target is not just at the government level but through the collective efforts of all of us,” he said.
The seminar focused on forging pathways to sustainable development by aligning with nature and adopting environment-friendly practices.
Earlier in the day, CM Yogi directed district officials to ensure swift and efficient relief operations following recent storms, rains, and hailstorms in parts of the state. He emphasized on-site surveys, close monitoring of aid distribution, and immediate disbursal of relief to families affected by natural disasters, including those involving loss of human or animal life.
The CM also ordered assessments of crop damage and proper drainage arrangements in waterlogged areas.
On May 21, CM Yogi held a review meeting on the state’s preparedness against the emerging JN.1 COVID-19 subvariant. While assuring citizens that there is currently no cause for alarm, he instructed all district hospitals, medical colleges, and health centers to remain on high alert. The directive comes in light of rising JN.1 cases reported in countries like Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Though the Central Government has not issued a new advisory, CM Yogi emphasized continued vigilance, surveillance, and readiness to tackle any potential outbreaks.
