Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a cabinet meeting on Thursday ahead of the state budget presentation for FY 2025-26.
Finance Minister’s Statement on Budget
Ahead of the session, UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna emphasized the government’s commitment to making Uttar Pradesh an “Uttam” Pradesh by increasing per capita income and ensuring prosperity for its citizens.
“There is no personal agenda. The best government is the one that works solely for the welfare of 25 crore people of the state. The size of the budget will be revealed in the Vidhan Sabha, and it will be inclusive of everyone,” Khanna stated.
Before presenting the budget, Khanna offered prayers at his residence before heading to the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, where he was joined by CM Yogi Adityanath.
CM Yogi Adityanath Calls for Peaceful Session
CM Yogi Adityanath appealed to the opposition for cooperation, urging them to allow a smooth and meaningful discussion during the budget session, which will run until March 5.
“The budget for the entire year will be passed during this session, and various other issues related to people’s welfare and development will also be discussed. The double-engine BJP government has set unprecedented standards for UP’s development over the years,” he said.
He further criticized the opposition for attempting to disrupt proceedings, stating that a fruitful discussion would benefit the state.
