The United Arab Emirates reopened its airspace after a temporary closure triggered by missile and drone threats from Iran. Authorities described the shutdown as a precautionary step to ensure aviation safety amid rapidly evolving regional tensions.
The suspension, which lasted nearly two hours, was implemented following security assessments by the General Civil Aviation Authority in coordination with relevant agencies. Flights resumed after officials confirmed that the situation had stabilised.
During the alert, residents in Dubai reported explosions as air defence systems intercepted incoming threats. A drone strike also caused a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah, though no casualties were reported.
The developments come amid escalating conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran, raising concerns over regional stability and the safety of key global routes like the Strait of Hormuz. Authorities said they continue to monitor the situation closely.
