Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Reviews ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’; Over 1.45 Crore Farmers Engaged

New Delhi [India], June 25 : Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a high-level review meeting on the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Developed Agriculture Resolution Campaign), aimed at resolving farmers’ issues and enhancing agricultural productivity across India.


📌 Key Highlights of the Campaign:

  • 2,170 teams travelled across India
  • Reached over 60,000 villages
  • Interacted directly with 1.45 crore farmers

Chouhan called the campaign a “historic movement” inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Lab to Land’ vision, which seeks to bridge the gap between agricultural research and practical implementation.


🎯 Goals of the Campaign:

  • Increase agricultural production
  • Lower costs for farmers
  • Boost income
  • Strengthen India’s reserves of vegetables and fruits
  • Promote sustainable and biofortified crops
  • Enhance soil health, mechanisation, and animal husbandry
  • Strengthen Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) with field-focused scientists

🧪 Future Plans & Initiatives:

  • Crop-specific consultations to tackle productivity, cost-efficiency, and disease control
    • First such discussion to be held on Soybean (June 26, Indore)
    • Followed by Cotton, Sugarcane, and others
  • A two-day Rabi season conference:
    • Day 1: For officials
    • Day 2: Minister-level deliberation and planning
  • Launch of ‘Crop War’ campaigns on key crops like:
    • Pulses, Oilseeds, Soybean, Cotton, Sugarcane
  • State-specific roadmaps, research prioritisation, stricter regulations on substandard inputs, and dedicated teams for enforcement

📢 Chouhan’s Message:

“This campaign is not just about data collection, but a deep dive into ground realities. We are committed to improving productivity, reducing costs, and raising incomes through targeted and scientific interventions,” said the Minister.


The ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ ran from May 29 to June 12, and will now serve as a foundation for policy reforms, research focus, and collaborative planning with states for a future-ready agricultural ecosystem.
