Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Expresses Happiness Over Rekha Gupta’s Appointment As Delhi CM

New Delhi [India], February 20 : After Rekha Gupta’s swearing-in as Delhi’s new Chief Minister, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed his joy, stating that it was a moment of great happiness for Delhi. He emphasized that the formation of a double-engine government in the capital will bring about significant improvements in development and address long-standing issues.

“It is a moment of great happiness for Delhi. After many years, a double-engine government is formed here. The shortcomings in development and the issues that have persisted will begin to improve in a short period of time,” Puri told ANI.

Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister in a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena administering the oath of office. Along with Gupta, six other ministers took the oath, including Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.

The ceremony was attended by top BJP leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, alongside other union ministers and Chief Ministers from neighboring states, such as Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, and others.

Rekha Gupta, in her speech, described her appointment as “a miracle” and a “new chapter” in women’s political empowerment. She vowed to hold corrupt individuals accountable and ensure that they answer for every rupee misused during the previous government’s tenure.

“It is a miracle, it is a new motivation and a new chapter. If I can be the CM, this means ways are open for all the women… Anyone who has been corrupt will have to give an account of each and every rupee,” Gupta said.

She also expressed gratitude to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s high command for entrusting her with this responsibility, emphasizing her commitment to fulfilling the promises made by her party.

“It is a huge responsibility. I thank PM Modi and BJP high command for having faith in me… I will fulfil my responsibility with utmost honesty… My first priority is to complete all the commitments our party has made, and the second priority is that all our 48 MLAs will work as a team Modi,” Gupta stated.

Rekha Gupta was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party after the party won 48 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, a historic victory that ousted the Aam Aadmi Party from power.
