Mumbai (Maharashtra), July 18: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday inaugurated the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) campus at the NFDC Films Division Complex in Mumbai, marking a significant step in India’s efforts to bolster the creator economy through advanced education in digital and media technologies.
State-of-the-Art Creative Tech Hub
The newly inaugurated IICT campus offers:
- World-class infrastructure
- Advanced media labs
- Post-production suites
- Animation, VFX, and XR training spaces
- Fully equipped classrooms
The institute is poised to commence its academic journey with the first batch in September 2025, and over 300 students are expected to graduate in its inaugural year.
Leaders Emphasize Tech-Driven Creative Education
During the inauguration, Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the growing synergy between technology and creativity:
“Technology has become an integral part of the creative world. Empowering youth for the creator economy is key. IICT will be one of the finest campuses, and I’ve personally reviewed the design for the upcoming Film City campus.”
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the initiative a “moment turned into a movement,” adding:
“IICT will be more than just an educational institution — it will be a cultural and architectural landmark that draws talent from across the globe, similar to how WAVES transformed the creator economy.”
Future Expansion Plans
- A second IICT campus is under development in Film City, Goregaon, expected to be completed in two years.
- Designed to global standards, the future campus will further expand opportunities for aspiring media professionals.
