Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 22: Union Health Minister JP Nadda, accompanied by his family, visited the ongoing 2025 Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Saturday. During his visit, Nadda was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The two leaders took part in a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.
In addition to Nadda and Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also joined the religious ceremonies. The trio took part in ‘pooja’ rituals and offered prayers at the Sangam. Nadda, the BJP national president, also performed the traditional aarti as part of the ceremonies.
Earlier, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar had also visited Prayagraj to participate in the Mahakumbh. Arlekar, along with his family, took a boat ride at the Triveni Sangam, appreciating the spiritual and scenic beauty of the location. In a media interaction following the ride, Arlekar praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for reviving the ancient traditions associated with the Mahakumbh and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to witness the grandeur of the event. Arlekar added that he would pray to ‘Mother Ganga’ for the development and national unity of India.
“The revival of old traditions is commendable, and I thank Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this. Devotees from across the country are participating in the Maha Kumbh. I pray to Mother Ganga for national unity and development,” said the Kerala Governor.
The Mahakumbh 2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, is scheduled to conclude on February 26. According to CM Yogi Adityanath, over 60 crore devotees had participated in the holy dips at the Triveni Sangam between January 13 and February 22.
In his address, Yogi Adityanath highlighted the global recognition of the Mahakumbh and strongly criticized those who had been making negative remarks about the event. He pointed out that while the world is praising the Mahakumbh, there are some detractors who are attempting to undermine its significance.
Adityanath directed his comments at the opposition, stating, “The Mahakumbh has shown the mirror to those who raise questions on good work and act as a barrier in the path of good initiatives.” He emphasized that the ongoing event showcases the immense potential of Uttar Pradesh and underscores the state’s cultural and spiritual importance.
With over 60 crore devotees taking part in the rituals, the Mahakumbh 2025 has become a significant symbol of both faith and the strength of India’s spiritual heritage.
