The Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to be a platform where aspiring cricketers showcase their talent and make a name for themselves. Every year, fresh faces emerge, and some of them go on to become stars. As IPL 2025 kicks off, here’s a list of uncapped players who could make a significant impact and catch the eye of cricket fans around the world:
- Robin Minz (Mumbai Indians)
Minz, a Jharkhand hitter, was supposed to start his IPL career last year with Gujarat Titans, but a road accident delayed his debut. This year, the Mumbai Indians have picked him up for Rs 65 lakh, more than double his base price of Rs 30 lakh. Minz has an explosive T20 strike rate of 181 and has made 67 runs in six innings. He also doubles as a wicketkeeper, adding value to his all-around abilities. - Suryansh Shedge (Punjab Kings)
Shedge emerged as one of India’s brightest domestic stars in 2024, especially after his match-winning knock in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. He blasted 36* off 15 balls, including three fours and four sixes, to help Mumbai win the final against Madhya Pradesh. In total, Shedge scored 131 runs in nine innings at an average of 43.66 and a strike rate of 251.92. As an all-rounder, he also picked up eight wickets in the tournament. Shedge has now earned a spot with Punjab Kings for Rs 30 lakh and will look to make his mark. - Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals)
One of the biggest surprises during the IPL 2024 auction, 12-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore. A prodigy from Bihar, Suryavanshi made his first-class debut at the age of 12 and also had a standout performance in the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup 2024-25, where he scored 176 runs in five matches. Despite his young age, Suryavanshi’s talent has earned him a place in the IPL, and he could become one of the most talked-about players of the season. - C Andre Siddarth (Chennai Super Kings)
The nephew of Tamil Nadu stalwart S Sharath, Siddarth is an 18-year-old batter with a strong domestic record. In the Ranji Trophy, he scored 612 runs in 12 innings, averaging 68.00, with a century and five fifties. Siddarth has already impressed in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) and will be looking to replicate his domestic success in the IPL. His impressive technique and temperament could make him a rising star. - Bevon Jacobs (Mumbai Indians)
The only overseas player on this list, Bevon Jacobs hails from Pretoria and has already represented New Zealand’s Auckland and Canterbury teams in domestic cricket. Jacobs impressed Mumbai Indians with his explosive performances in T20s, where he had a strike rate of 189 after six innings. In 20 T20 matches, he has accumulated 423 runs at an average of 32.53, with a strike rate of over 148. Jacobs’ big-hitting abilities could make him a valuable asset for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
