Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Releases Special Postcard Marking 75 Years Of Indian Republic And Constitution

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia released a special commemorative postcard issued by India Post to celebrate 75 years of the Indian Republic and Constitution. The event was held at the National Philatelic Museum in Delhi as part of the celebrations.

In a post on X, Scindia said:
“Visited the ‘Postal Exhibition’ organised by the National Philatelic Museum in Delhi to mark the completion of 75 years of the Indian Constitution and released a special postcard issued by @IndiaPostOffice on the journey of 75 years of the Indian Republic and Constitution.”

Highlights of the Event

  • Scindia viewed historical letters written by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
    “During the visit, I got the opportunity to see the historical letters written by the architect of the Constitution, Baba Saheb Ambedkar,” he shared on X.
  • The Union Minister interacted with artists, collectors, and students attending the event, emphasizing the importance of educating the younger generation about the Constitution and philately.
    “Our Constitution is our book, a guide for the country to move forward on the path of development and progress. Connecting the new generation to this journey with the same energy will be an important part of today’s program,” Scindia said.

Significance of the Celebration

November 26, 2024, marked the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. While the Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, democratic republic, January 26, 2025, completes 75 years of the Indian Republic.

In 2015, the Indian government formally declared November 26 as Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) to honor the adoption of the Constitution. This day has since been observed annually to celebrate its legacy.
