Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CM Dhami emphasized the initiative’s role in fostering scientific curiosity and promoting an innovation-driven approach to education.
“This effort will prove to be a milestone in taking science to the masses and promoting ‘innovation-based education’. Through these mobile science labs, scientific thinking and curiosity of students will be encouraged and they will also become a part of practical experience,” CM Dhami wrote in his post.
Professor Pant from the Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCAST) explained that this ambitious initiative aims to make science more accessible in remote and rural regions of the state. The project provides students from classes 6 to 12 with hands-on experience in subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics through laboratory work, demonstrations, and practical learning.
He further shared that the project has now entered its second phase, expanding to the remaining nine districts: Uttarkashi, Raina, Khera, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Ashram, Bageshwar, and Vastushastra.
On Monday, CM Dhami also highlighted the government’s efforts to support students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. The state is offering scholarships from class 1 to 12 and is running 15 hostels, five residential schools, and three Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) free of cost. Additionally, students receive free coaching and monthly scholarships to prepare for competitive exams.
He also mentioned steps being taken to rescue children involved in begging and motivate them to attend school. The government is working to empower youth and adults through skill development and self-employment programs.
