Police in northern England are quickly looking into the “racially aggravated” rape of a 20-year-old woman in Walsall, West Midlands. This happened a month after a similar attack on a British Sikh lady in the same area.
On Saturday night, the West Midlands Police were called to the Park Hall area of Walsall after reports of a woman in trouble in the street. The crime has now been labeled as a “racially aggravated attack.”
Urgent Call to Find White Male Suspect
Authorities have made a public appeal and published CCTV footage in an effort to find the perpetrator. The attacker is said to be
Race: White man
Age: In his thirties
Short hair is how they seem.
Clothes: The person was wearing dark clothes at the time of the event.
Detective Superintendent (DS) Ronan Tyrer is in charge of the inquiry. He said, “This was an absolutely horrible attack on a young woman, and we are doing everything we can to catch the person who did it.” He asked the public for any information, such as dashcam or CCTV footage from nearby places, that could help us make the “vital breakthrough that we need.”
The victim is thought to be Punjabi and not connected to the previous attack.
To protect the victim’s identity, official information about her is being kept secret. However, local community groups have given more information:
Sikh Federation UK said that local sources said the victim is a Punjabi woman.
The group further said that the perpetrator “apparently broke down the door of the house where she was living.”
Preet Kaur Gill, a Labour MP for Birmingham Edgbaston, said she was “deeply shocked” by the frequent violence against women in the area, which she said is “compounded by hate and racial overtones.”
DS Tyrer said that even though the attack happened after a well-known occurrence in September, the police are not linking this rape to any other crimes at this time.
Background: Rape with racial overtones in Oldbury before
The West Midlands Police are still looking into a different incident from last month, which makes the community’s worry even worse:
A Sikh lady was raped in Oldbury in September, which is located in the West Midlands.
The crime happened in the open, just before 8:30 AM on September 9, along Tame Road.
The police were looking for two white men who were thought to have hurt and abused the victim.
In the Oldbury case, a number of people were arrested, but they were later let out on bond as the investigation continued.
