Uber Launches Metro Ticketing Via ONDC Integration, Starting With Delhi Metro

New Delhi [India]: Uber has announced the rollout of metro ticketing on its app, enabled through a strategic integration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Delhi Metro becomes the first city in India where this new feature is available.

Starting today, Uber users in Delhi can now plan their metro journeys, purchase QR-based tickets, and access real-time transit updates—all directly within the Uber app.

Uber stated that this initiative is the first of its kind to link with India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in creating a connected public transport ecosystem. The company also revealed that three more cities will go live with this feature in 2025.

This integration follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s 2024 visit to India, reaffirming Uber’s commitment to collaborate with ONDC and support India’s vision for inclusive and scalable digital public goods.

“India has taken an impressive leap in building population scale technology through its Digital Public Infrastructure like ONDC and we are thrilled to integrate with them to bring metro ticketing to the Uber app, bringing us one step closer to our vision of being a one-stop shop for mobility needs,” said Praveen Neppalli Naga, Chief Technology Officer at Uber.

“Working with ONDC has pushed us to reimagine how private innovation can plug into public platforms to deliver seamless, smart solutions and we are just getting started,” he added.

Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO of ONDC, commented, “Uber’s joining of the ONDC Network marks a significant step in expanding access to trusted, interoperable digital infrastructure in India. As a global platform, Uber’s initial enablement of metro ticketing and logistics unlocks new possibilities—from seamless multimodal journeys to unifying a fragmented logistics ecosystem.”

“This collaboration lays the foundation for future innovations from Uber on the Network, enhancing value for users, partners, and the broader mobility and services landscape,” Jain added.

Uber also announced upcoming plans to launch B2B logistics services via the ONDC network. This feature will allow businesses to request on-demand logistics using Uber’s delivery network without needing their own fleet.

Initially, this logistics capability will support food delivery, with potential to scale into e-commerce, grocery, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors.

“By integrating with ONDC, Uber will be accessible to a wide ecosystem of sellers and platforms, empowering businesses of all sizes to reach more customers efficiently through a plug-and-play logistics layer,” the company said in a statement.
