ABU DHABI, UAE — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly denounced the recent terrorist attack on a church in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which sadly killed many innocent people.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued an official statement on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, reaffirming the country’s unwavering rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism. The Ministry said that these kinds of actions are meant to hurt security and stability and go against all human norms and principles.
The MoFA also sent its profound condolences and sincere sympathies to the families of the’ victims who died in this terrible and horrible attack. The Ministry also showed its support for the people and government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo after this act of violence.
It is thought that the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) carried out the attack on July 27, 2025, during a night vigil at a church in the town of Komanda in Ituri province, eastern DRC. The ADF, an insurgent group believed to have ties to the Islamic State, is responsible for several civilian deaths in the area. Several international sources report that the attack claimed the lives of scores of worshippers, many of whom died at the hands of sharp weapons. The UN peacekeeping operation in the DRC, MONUSCO, has also strongly denounced the incident.
The UAE’s condemnation shows that it has always been against terrorism around the world and supports international efforts to fight extremism.
