New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested two alleged gang members linked to the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar–Virender Charan syndicate, foiling a plot to assassinate stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.
The suspects, identified as Rahul (from Panipat) and Sahil (from Bhiwani), were nabbed after a gunfight on Jaitpur–Kalindi Kunj Road on Thursday.
According to police, the duo had been acting on instructions from foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara, who has ties with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan. The men had allegedly carried out reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru to track Faruqui’s movements.
Faruqui, winner of Bigg Boss 2024 and followed by 14.2 million people on Instagram, was the gang’s target, investigators said.
During the encounter, Rahul sustained a gunshot injury and was taken to hospital. He is also wanted in connection with a triple murder in Yamunanagar, Haryana, in December 2024. Police seized firearms and a motorcycle from the scene.
