J&K: Two Dead In Rain-Related Incidents In Reasi, Kathua Districts

Recent rainfall has caused two separate, fatal incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi and Kathua districts, leaving two people dead and two others injured on Saturday.

In the Mahore area of the Reasi district, a landslide triggered by heavy rains near Malai Nallah trapped a truck. The driver, Shahbaz Ahmad, died, while two of his passengers, Javed Ahmad and Abdul Gani, were injured. They were rescued and transported to a nearby hospital.

In a separate incident in Kathua district, a man identified as Ravi lost his life when his car was swept away by a flash flood while he attempted to cross an overflowing stream. A joint team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police recovered his body.

The regions of Jammu and Kashmir have been under a weather advisory from the Meteorological Department, forecasting the possibility of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides from August 23 to 26, 2025.

A separate road accident on the outskirts of Jammu left 20 bus passengers injured. The incident occurred in the Arnia area of R S Pura when a private bus skidded off the road, overturned, and fell into an open field. Officials stated that four of the injured were in “serious” condition and all were shifted to the hospital.
