Emily “Emiru” Schunk, a Twitch streamer and cosplayer, says she was attacked at a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego. The US Sun says that video of the event online seems to show a man approaching the prominent streamer, seizing her without her permission, and trying to kiss her.
Security staff quickly dealt with the man’s hostile behavior by interviewing him and kicking him out of the venue.
Twitch bans users and makes security tighter.
Twitch quickly responded to the incident by saying that the person who was there has been “banned indefinitely” from both the platform and all future in-person events.
Twitch spoke out against the activities in a public statement, saying that the behavior of the attendee was “completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting.” The business made it clear that “The safety and security of all those attending TwitchCon is our highest priority.”
Twitch said it would tighten security for the rest of the event after the attack. Some of the new measures include:

More thorough checks at the door for anybody who want to come in.
A ban on plus-one attendees for the rest of the event right away.
Mary Kish, head of the Twitch community, said that the company needs to be “really aggressive” in making sure creators are secure. This incident shows that people are becoming more worried about the safety of creators at public fan gatherings.
Emiru’s strength is still there
Even though the fight was scary, Emiru stayed calm and went back to her meet-and-greet session. Fans and other streamers alike flooded her with support for her choice.
This is the second time Emiru has been publicly harassed in less than a year. The first time was during a live webcast in Santa Monica in early 2025.

Emiru, whose real name is Emily Schunk, was born on January 3, 1998. She is one of the most successful female streamers and cosplayers on Twitch. She is recognized for her fun demeanor, great League of Legends gaming, and unique material.
She started streaming her League of Legends games in 2015, when she was still in high school. She became a pro in 2020 when she signed with the eSports group Cloud9.
