Trump Urges Quick Passage of “One Big, Beautiful Bill” to Modernize Air Traffic Control And Slash Taxes

Washington, DC [US], June 28: US President Donald Trump on Friday renewed his call for Congress to quickly pass his proposed “one big, beautiful bill,” which he says will modernize America’s outdated air traffic control system and deliver sweeping tax relief.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump praised Republican senators for working through the weekend, urging the House of Representatives to send the bill to his desk before July 4.

“The Great Republicans in the U.S. Senate are working all weekend to finish our ‘ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL.’ We are on the precipice of delivering massive general tax cuts, NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY FOR OUR SENIORS, permanently securing our borders, an even bigger and more powerful military… unleashing our American economy, dominating the energy market, creating jobs, and getting money back to American families,” Trump wrote.

He called on lawmakers to seize the moment: “The House of Representatives must be ready to send it to my desk before July 4th – We can get it done. It will be a wonderful celebration for our country.”

Trump also highlighted the bill’s focus on modernizing air traffic control, which he called “a decrepit relic.” In a video message, he detailed plans to overhaul outdated communications, radar systems, and hardware, vowing it would give America the world’s best air traffic control for decades to come.

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are scrambling to keep the bill alive after a major setback on Thursday. The Senate parliamentarian ruled that a key cost-saving measure – a cap on health care provider taxes – violated the Byrd Rule, which sets limits on what can be included in budget reconciliation bills. This ruling threatens hundreds of billions of dollars in planned Medicaid savings.

Senate Majority Whip John Thune told reporters his team has “contingency plans” to keep the legislation on track before the July 4 deadline set by Trump. Senator Josh Hawley voiced concerns that changes to health care provider taxes could push rural hospitals into bankruptcy, a fear echoed by several Republicans including Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Jerry Moran, and Thom Tillis, The Hill reported.

As talks continue, Republicans face a race against time to salvage the bill’s key provisions and meet Trump’s deadline.
