Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has caused more controversy by saying that the US, under his leadership, played a key part in stopping a possible nuclear war between India and Pakistan. The President repeated what he has been saying for a long time in a recent interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News. This is very different from what India officially says.
Trump said these things to explain why he was involved in global conflicts, even ones that didn’t have a big direct effect on the US. “Look at India and Pakistan. They were already gunning down planes. And that might have meant nuclear. I would have guessed it was going to go nuclear. The President remarked, “And I was able to get it done.” He also said that his main priority in these cases is to “save lives.”
The incident in issue was a short stand-off that lasted four days after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which militants linked to Pakistan killed 26 civilians. On May 7, the Indian military conducted “Operation Sindoor” as a robust response, striking and killing more than 100 militants in camps deep inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The Indian administration says that the fighting stopped on May 10 when Pakistan came to the Indian side and asked for a truce because of the massive damage. India has always said that there was no outside help in settling the fight. On the other hand, Pakistan has backed up Trump’s assertions, which many people consider as a way to win favor with the US government.
The White House has been pushing for President Trump to win the Nobel Peace Prize based on his assertions that he helped make peace treaties between Thailand and Cambodia, Iran and Israel, and Serbia and Kosovo. Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, said recently that Trump had made an average of one peace settlement or ceasefire every month since he took office.
