Trump Signs Executive Order To Expand IVF Access, Cut Treatment Costs

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order aimed at making in vitro fertilization (IVF) more accessible and affordable for Americans. The order targets reducing the high costs of IVF, which can range from $12,000 to $25,000 per cycle, often requiring multiple attempts for success.

The White House factsheet titled “President Donald J. Trump Expands Access to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)” stated:

“The Order directs policy recommendations to protect IVF access and aggressively reduce out-of-pocket and health plan costs. Our nation’s public policy must support loving mothers and fathers longing to have children.”

Highlighting declining fertility rates, the factsheet noted:

  • 85,000+ infants were born via IVF in 2021.
  • US fertility rate hit another historic low in 2023, dropping 3% from 2022.
  • From 2014-2020, the rate decreased by 2% annually.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised the move, posting on X:

“PROMISES MADE. PROMISES KEPT: President Trump just signed an Executive Order to Expand Access to IVF! The Order aims to reduce out-of-pocket costs and improve fertility treatment coverage.”

🍼 Why It Matters:

  • Addresses soaring fertility treatment costs.
  • Focuses on family formation amid falling birth rates.
  • Seeks to expand health insurance coverage for IVF.

Trump’s executive action marks a significant policy push to support aspiring parents amid growing concerns over America’s declining fertility rate.
